Went Geocaching this weekend

So, I decided to make an impromptu geocaching trip to the reservior near here yesterday. I didn't find the cache but it was a great day to be in the mountains. I got in a short hike and came home with a nasty sunburn (no top on the Jeep) but it was a good day. I did notice one thing, though: an awful lot of people don't return the 'wave' anymore. I remember riding with my Grandpa up to the lake when I was a kid and everyone was happy to see you. They waved when driving by, said 'goodmorning' or good afternoon' when they were walking near, etc. Anymore, it seems like folks are too caught up in their own lives to be curtious. I waved at everyone I passed in my Jeep and only about half returned the wave. While I was walking around, only about half the people I came in contact with seemed like they were genuinely happy to talk. The others seemed annoyed at the fact that some guy was interupting their day at the lake. Maybe I'm just being over-sensitive but one of the things I love about going hiking, fishing, camping, etc. is getting to talk to people who have the same passion I do: the outdoors. Like I said, maybe I'm just being over-sensitive. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Around here it seems that anyone driving a jeep waves to anyone they see driving a jeep.

Bow hunting last week I broke my cv joint about 20 miles back on the Middle Fork.Some hunters were camping right where the truck broke.Wandering into their camp I asked if they had any duct tape?They craweled under my truck,looked and said"nope got some twine".All this with a straight face.I limped my truck back to base camp with the broken axel banging the lower swingarm all the way.I must have looked quit the rube.Twenty minutes into camp a jeep pulls in and its one of those bowhunters.He gave me a lift into town and back to camp.I guess you jeep owners are just slap happy.LOL
People around here are just very reserved.It's the western way.You get in an elevator in Boise no one says a word.In Brooklyn On a 4 story ride you would be best freind with everyone and probably have a few gals numbers:p I can tell you this.The freinds I've made here in Idaho are truly my freinds.What other buddy would come out to Lowman from Boise to help me skin my elk till twelve midnight.
I'm using my wifes truck while mine is being fixed,and no kidding everyone is waving at me.My wife keeps a beat up straw cowboy hat on her dash.That must be the secret squirell passcode.So get rid of those fuzzy dice and put in some gun racks:D

Not true around here!! It's only those Jeep owners that have wranglers or CJ's. When I'm driving around in my MANLY Jeep Liberty, none of you Jeep wrangler drivers wave at me!

What's up with that?? Like you gotta be the elite Wrangler owner to get a Jeep wave. Pure BS!! ha ha :D And mine's no yuppy Jeep either. It's a Renagade..Only 5000 miles and it's already hauled 2 deer inside. Blood stains and all...

Pretty hard to put 2 car seats in a wrangler. Oh they'll fit but it's tight

OHHHHHHH PETEY, I wave to all jeeps (as long as they dont have square headlights- as I dont consider them real jeeps). seems the ones in the Commanders, with the Magellin , two car seats, a sticker that says SAVE BAMBI on the right rear bumper , a sticker on the tailgate which reads DONT KILL SMOKEY BEAR IN WESTERN MARYLAND and a bicycle rack are the ones who dont wave back. Actually some do wave back with the longest finger on their left hand (but i consider that a WEST VIRGINIA HOWDY)
And it seems your jeep definitely qualifies for a wave. I have found mud deters rust and dried blood and dog hair is a more appropriate Jeep scent than glade air fresheners.

my first jeep was a 54 station wagon and I wish I still had it!
