Local governments in Georgia now will be allowed to post the Ten Commandments in public buildings, as long as they are hung alongside historic documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. However, the American Civil Liberties Union has promised to sue any local government that posts the Commandments.

If the ordinance allows for their "showing", and the ACLU sues, then shouldn't they countersue the ACLU for harassment, and perseqution?(SP?)

Why this has turned into such a big deal, hot topic issue the past few years is beyond me. I mean, it's just the 10 commandments for pete's sake. Personally, I think the ACLU needs to calm down. You don't hear them suing because NPR plays hymns in some of their programs, do you? (I'm referring to Prarie Home Companion - I'm sure there's more out there).
My opinion is this: Why is it that the ACLU and others are so bent on restricting this liberty and freedom of speech when their NAME includes "Civil Liberties"?
Of course, we all know that they lean towards the right of the political spectrum.
It just doesn't make sense though, and it annoys me that people can get so hyped up about something like this. If they don't like it, then tough. They can deal with it.
I personally don't like seeing signs on the highway advertising porn clubs. You don't see me raising a hoot about it, do you?
So with that said, you might be able to tell where I'm coming from on all of this ... religiously and politically, that is. I'll say no more. :)
But, what are your opinions?

I don't see anything wrong with the posting of the 10 Commandments. And as far as the controversy, consider the source, ACLU, which as we know, is an acronym standing for All Commies Love Us.

Can you imagine how much better of the world would be in people actually lived by the ten commandments?

If people actually lived by the Ten Commandments, the world would be a much, much, much better place.
As far as the signs for porn clubs are concerned, I have a serious issue with that and wouldn't want them in my neighborhood. Don't get me wrong, I am not against porn, I just don't think I should have to attempt to explain those signs to any children.
If I get started on the world in general, this post will be a mile long.

Where I grew up in the South, ACLU stands for Anti Christ Lunatics Union. Seems to fit.

Hmmm, that's a very good point, Tall Shadow. I've never really thought of that before.
