Dunno why the sites won't work
They use a 3 pound coffee can.
Use chicken livers or fish heads for bait.
One site pinches the can opening shut leaving just enough of an opening for the leech to get in. Check the can early mornings.
The other site baits it the same way but just puts the plastic lid on the can and punches a few knife holes in the can.
A third site just cuts both ends out of the can and flattens it on a fish head.
apparently they ain't too hard to catch.
They did mention that they are nocturnal feeders so checking just after daylight is important.
hope this helps.

I don't know if it will work on leeches or not, but I saw just recently in a magizine article, about making a minnow trap out of a 2-liter soda bottle. Cut the top off below the neck, where body of bottle start, turn it around and insert, making a funnel. this can be fasten with glue that water doesn't have effect on or duct tape(temporary) fill with enough sand or gravel to weight down, with bottle on side. Side in bait and submerge in pool where minnows are.

you can use old news paper tins and fold them like a accordion "4 to 6 inches wide" put a hog ring in the corner and tie on some twine with a float put in your bait chicken liver works ok , put a clothes pin on the trap to keep it closed and check it right away in the morning . they will start leaving trap early.

They are great catfish bait. Once put on the hook they stay there.
They are tough so the cat can't gum them off the hook.

Can you please explain the construction of the trap a little differently? I Just don't understand how they are trapped.??? Is there a top and/or bottom to the trap?

fold the tin like a W put your bait in the 3 pockets and put a clothes pin on each side to hold the bait in, put on your string and a float "16 oz pop bottle will work" string has to be long enough to let trap lay flat and check it early. and remember there is a difference between a leach and a bloodsucker were there is fish in a pond there wont be leaches just bloodsuckers and fish dont like bloodsuckers. hope this helps if any other questions just ask.

They are also a top bait for walleye also. I'm getting hungry thinking about walleye fillets.
