Looking for a small gun, easy to carry for snakes mostly, thing on lines of the .45 long colt/410 Any one have any . Saw this ad in a flyer, supposed to be great on snakes ? Anyone with info about this would be greatly appricated.

I dunno about snakes but the 3" model with a 3" 000 buck throws five 33 caliber pellets every time ya pull the trigger. . . . . food for thought.

I was doing some scouting for this falls bow season, and where I bow hunt there are a good many rattlesnakes, even though I had my snake boots on, a derringer would make a person feel better, I was snake bit many years ago by copperhead and I don't like snakes, hell I even kill large nightcrawlers:D :D

Derringers can be a bit hard to shoot, but, with some of the shot shells either 410 or some of the pistol ammo types in 38 Special, 357 Mag, 44 Mag, or 45 Colt you should be able to hit a snake at close range... and the bird shot will do a good job of killing them.

I carry one shot round in my ranch carry revolver just for the occassional rattlesnake.

I have a davis derringer in .38 special. If the snake was big enough that I could hit it, the .38 wouldn't do much.:D The only thing it's good for is a poker game.

I owned one for a few years and must say that with the 45colt load and or the 2 1/2" 410 it just plain HURT!!! to fire, hard to hold onto unless you use the boot grip, patterns where useless with bird or buckshot.

I would opt for a newer "TI" S&W 22lr kit gun and or their 38spl version
