has anyone used a #330 in something like a cubby or bucket to catch and hold/kill coyotes?

The 330 is not a coyote trap, and shouldnt be used as one.
Most states,do not allow the use of 330s on land.Regulations must be checked when a person sets a 330,in my state they must be half submeged,Mo. requires total submersion.
Can you use anything but cage traps in California?

bud a yote is wayyyyyyyyyyy to smart to stick his head into a coni unless in in his trail, and plus there a big risk of catchin a dog or cat,if yousing fish ya may catch a bobcat but stick with a 2 coil for coyotes in a flat set;)

I'm going to have to agree with the other posters here 1) a coni isnt a yote trap and even if it was used as one its going to take an awful young and stupid yote to get caught up in one.

Regs here in CA make the use of a leg hold trap far and few. No coils or long springs for me.:(

here we go,get in hunting season or cold weather a bunch of fat skunks, roadkill deer parts, trash meat, scraps, make sure there not a lot of scent on them, etc.etc now where theres signh ,wire the skunks to trees and let the skunk scent that they spray be cut open in that area,or wire all the small stuff down, now dump all the big peices in the middle, spray urine around that area, now wait a week, when the parts are missing refill all of them, try to use a differnt bait, like fish,or beaver or coon, now wait another week and go scout that area real carefull, look for the trails the animals made and once again refill the area with food, but now set the snares you have on the trails. it really helps if it snows,or if you cant see the trails then keep on refillin the bait station untill you can see the trails, sardines work wonders on gray fox,ask me if you have any other questions,oh you dont have to have to much bait,in fact wire all of the bait down to the ground or trees, trails in good area should show up in 2 to 3 weeks,if its a posum or skunk stealing you bait get a 160 coni bear on there trail and add them to the station, ask me if you want any other snare sets

My opinion...330 is not the best option to catch a coyote. While I have caught coyotes in 220s and know of others who have captured then in 160s, it is still not the best option to catch them.

If you can use a snare or foothold use them...better yet get with an experienced trapper and have them show you how. Obviously keep in mind state laws....the state of California only allows cage traps on land.

Best break out the predator call and varmint rifle for the coyotes.

iam not saying to do this, but try buildind a 200 pound log deadfall with a figure four batied with a rat, thats not breaking the law

Like a 330, a 200 pound deadfall, has no business being set on land.

No one from canada has entered into this post.
lets keep answers to what is really feasible. We help no one,by posting sets that have little or no merit.

coni's and snares CAN be used in california IF the target animal is causing property damage. i can also legally use foothold traps if the target animal poses a threat to huma safety. trust me on this one.
