Who's primer pocket cleaner?

Im looking for an alternative to the RCBS brush type cleaner. The RCBS seems to have the bristles go haywire at times and is a real pain after it wears some.Have also used the Lee...but it does not seem to do a good enough job. Thanks in advance for the assisatnce.

Scrounge a cartridge case- like a 223 off the range, or one with a split neck you're gonna throw out. Stick the neck and shoulder in a vice and crush it flat. Then file the sides of the crushed flat neck until it fits the primer pocket size you're trying to clean.
All it takes ius one twirl in the primer pocket, and it's clean.
Works as well as any brush I've ever seen, it's free, and it takes about 5 minutes to make- and I'm still using the ones I made 30+ years ago.....

I`ve used the Lee, RCBS, and a small screwdriver. All do about the same IMO. I now have a RCBS case master and their brushes are used on it. I wouldn`t be without the case master, so I guess the brush is my preferamce.

I like the Lyman .....bought the set of case prep tools that fit in a rechargable drill. The primer pocket cleaner in it works excellent and fast.

I buy the wire brush insert and make short work of it. They get ragged after 1000's of rounds but it's fast and very effective so I guess it's a small price to pay to eliminate a tediuos task. I have the RCBS unit and that works great for de-burring and brushing out the neck.

I have used many primer pocket cleaners,Uniformers etc. but the best ,and easiest to use with consistancy is the Sinclair Pocket Uniformer. http://www.sinclairintl.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=RECPUN&type=store try the power kit #8000 it comes with an adaptor for a power screw driver and both the large rifle and small rifle uniformers.I have cleaned thousands of primer pockets with this tool and 100's upon 100's at one sitting and its the easiest and most uniform pocket cleaner I have ever used!:D

I used a scrapper for quite a while. I could be wrong, but think it was called a Dewey Crocagator. You simply twirled it in the pocket to scrape the crud out. Unfortunately my primer pockets seemed to get larger over time, and I always felt that the scraping just might have been the reason why, so I ceased using it. Now I simply swab the pocket with a Q-tip. That removes anything loose in the primer pocket and I guess that'll have to be enough for now. Best wishes.

I take the RCBS brush type cleaner and put a good bit of "0000" Steel wool over it... Really cleans and will not damage the pocket

I wholeheartedly concur. It's the only one I use.

I've tried several RCBS primer pocket cleaners over the years and
finally gave up. After a short while you've got brush bristles going in all different directions. It looks like it was frightened badly by something. Best wishes.

I'm with Jack on using a fired case like he discribed. It works great. I made one for small primer pockets and one for large. I'm not as old as jack, only been using mine for 28 years . MC
