I knew it would happen. When the S&W 500 Revolver came out I knew it was only a matter of time before S&W Did something to make it smaller.
Well I saw on the tv show Guns & Ammo yesterday the S&W bear survival pack. It includes a gun case with all of the servival gear that you might want. (I.E. knife, space blankets, firestarter, Etc. Etc.)
The center piece of each case is a 2 1/2" barrel S&W 500 or 460 revolver. Yea, thats right a snubnose 500 or 460 cal. handgun. with either lime green or floresent orange grips.
Can you imagine that.

I don't even want to think about the noise or recoil that thing would have:eek:

I think I'll stop at the 44mag. With a full house load of Win 296 & the right bullet it will do all I need to do & I surely don't need any more blast or recoil. I think those kind of guns are made to be carried fairly easilily & shot very seldom. I asked the guy at the gunshop the other month & he told me a story of a recent buyer that bought a big boy & after a few rounds it was sold off.

I suppose whatever makes one happy is fine. However, it seems almost like carrying a hand grenade for self defense. :D

I guess can understand it.
You may see a Grizzly, when walking through the city:confused: .
I take it back, a snub .500 makes no sense to me...

Damn......
the 500 S&W isnt really bad in the full size pistols, I've had a hot loaded featherweight .44mag kick worse.
But there's no way in hell i'd fire that thing in a 2-1/2.

Why not offer that same package with a 4 or 5-inch piece?
I still wouldn't buy one, but at least it "start" to make some sense!
