Tater
07-14-2006, 12:58 AM
Since Whanie started the "New Picture Thread" I thought I'd start the "How did you choose your screen name" thread. For those that haven't been here long, my last name is Couch. A guy I used to work with called me 'couch potato' (real original, I know). After a while, he shortened it to 'couch tater' and then to 'tater'. It's stuck with me for 13 years and it's even on my license plate. Your turn:D

And I was thinking your were a Potato Farmer in Idaho there Tator! ;)

Mine was easy given the choices. I take a lot of guys hunting, and often we discuss where who is going to sit where. They always have first choice, then I'll say, well, I'm going to go sit in the West Corner seat or whatever. A while later they'll hear my shot, so I got the nickname Lucky Baxturd, or a similar spelling, which isn't appropriate here!! It's getting so bad I'll pick my spot and then trade with them. Naturally call it what you will, but it takes more than luck to consistently bag game.

Actually I don't have no good story on my nickname, so Dom it is, shortened up, Waidmannsheil!!

Duffy

Duffy is my paternal grandmother's maiden name. She was an immigrant from Ireland. It somehow became a nickname for me from the family, and I've carried it with me ever since.

M.T. Pockets

I grew up working on a farm, and like most farmkids, we didn't get paid anything. So, I didn't have any money, thus the handle Empty Pockets.

Mine is pretty simple. My name is Fabrizio Roman. Got the nickname Fabs in high school and it stuck with me through college and law school even though very few people I know followed me from one school to another. I have clients and friends from high school that still call me Fabs, and it throw my wife for a loop. She was at a creative memories get together with some of my high school friends' wives and they were all referring to me as Fabs. My wife said at first that she did not have a clue who they were talking about, but she eventually figured it out when they started talking about how handsome and fit Fabs is. LOL Just thought I would throw that in to see if I could get a laugh out of you guys, but seriously, it did take her a little while to figure out they were talking about me. My best friend from undergrad still calls me Fabs, as does my best friend from law school.

Guess I'm kinda odd, just use my real name. I sell auto parts and have passed out thousands of business card all over the west. All my customers and potential ones just call me by name. Most towns I visit and hunt around there are always a few that know by sight. So, I;m just me.LOL

Um, I think mine is obvious. Hunting females are pretty rare, so I thought I'd make sure everyone knew I was a girl, and I hunt deer. I know. It's not very original. Sorry.

I have a shirt that says, "Yes I hunt.......LIKE A GIRL!"

Have you guys (or gals, for deerhuntingirl) seen the movie 'Rudy'? My nickname comes from that movie.

When I was in middle school, I played soccer for the school team. The headmaster over there started calling me 'Rudy' after the guy in the movie, and it stuck. (Even though Rudy played football in the movie).

Critch
07-14-2006, 02:44 PM
"Critch" is the first syllable of my last name "Crih-Field", (I know it looks like Cry-field, but we all pronounce it Critch-field). Anyway, when I was growing up in Doniphan, MO I was "Big Critch" and my little brother was "Little Critch"

BILLY D.
07-14-2006, 03:34 PM
normaly i take the screen name stinger, stinger was an aircraft i flew on in vietnam. but that was already taken here. so i used the name BILLY D. which was my radio name when i was a dj. thats a disc jockey for the uninformed.

my real name is william doersam. and there are 3 of us. william jr. and william the 3rd, or william the turd as we kid him, live in north carolina.

Wahnie
07-14-2006, 04:54 PM
One of my friends used to call me Wahnie, which means old friend in Athabaskan. I wish I could change my name, now. I go by AK Guitarist or Northern Lights pretty much everywhere else.

skeeter@ccia.com
07-16-2006, 10:39 AM
All my friends call me skeeter but that was taken here to log on so as not to get confused with skeet or the others, I just added the ccia.com and at the time I signed up I typed in my (old outdated) E-mail addy in the wrong place....so guess am stuck with it here.
How I got the skeeter was long long ago when in the deep woods and everyone around me got killed by mosquitoes except me. Guess they just don't like the cider vinegar I drink so I was the only one without all the welts....besides while trucking I needed a cb handle.

Mugrump!

MacD37
07-22-2006, 04:54 PM
The screen name i use here was origenally a code name where I worked on the computer a major international airline. It is a combination of my last name, first name inicial , and the year of my birth "MacD37"

The only reason it ended up on the internet was a web-site I usually posted on, changed servers, and for some reason my private screen name would let me log in, so I went to my work name, as I was already retired! This name is only here, and on Accurate Reloading, and on all others I post as DUGABOY1 Which most here will know is what an old Cape Buffalo bull is called in most of Africa, and is the prefix to my E-mail address DUGABOY1@aol.com

I tried using another alias on this board, but it was far too difficult to remember all the logins, so I standardized them across the board to IchWarrior.

As a teenager before tranfer bars on single action sixshooters we all had to practice our fast draw. Cowboy boots back then had pointed toes. except for my right one after one practice round. Thankfully the boot was the only casualty, as they say my fame was born. Stay safe and keep it on a empty chamber.:)
