I've got a NEF Sportster .17HMR and a Marlin 917M2 .17 Mach 2 and I want to adjust thier triggers, especially the Marlin because the trigger pull is unreal. Both are set pretty heavy and I want something light and crisp (2-4lb). Are the triggers even adjustable on these two rifles?
Thanks.

I have no idea if they are or not, I know my sportster .17HMR has no creep, and breaks just over 4lbs, but if you find a way to adjust it, let me know!

i don't know if any adjusting on those models is possible. i would seek the advice of a very competent gunsmith.
home style trigger work is a disaster waiting to happen.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't attempt any gunsmithing. I wasn't sure if there was a screw or something that could be tweaked. Both rifles have very little creep, they are just too hard to pull. Perhaps someone could suggest an aftermarket trigger?
Thanks again.

what i meant by taking your gun to a smith was the smith might be able to stone the trigger parts to make them smoother or he could possibly do some tweaking of the springs.
i remember when i was in alaska there seemed to be quite a few smiths in the eagle river, anchorage and wasilla areas. but i have no idea how things are in your neck of the woods.
i don't know if there are any forums for h&r's but that may be another option. or one for break opens.
sorry.

Call Rifle Basix I put one of trier triggers on my savage 917 and its now an incredible 28 oz. pull on the trigger its a whole new rifle and worth the $80.00 I had to spend.
