This Saturday I will be working the black powder station for 30 women participating in the local Women On Target event at the Lambs Creek Sportsmens Club.

There are stations for: sporting clays, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, archery and black powder. I will have my .50 caliber T/C caplock Hawken at a bench for student utilization.

MaIIIa is the "honcho" for the WOT event and I am merely a worker to ensure a successful event. I have observed that many women who dislike guns do not dislike OLD guns such as flinters and caplock muzzleloaders. Many of our WOT students join the gun club, buy muzzleloaders, and hunt with them.

If you Longhunters out there are not sharing your expertise, then you should be.

Yesterday we had 37 women come through my black powder station at the Lambs Creek Sportsmens Club station. All were happy to successfully fire flinters, caplocks and in-lines.

We had many fine shooters who easily hit the 100 and 200-yard gongs on the club range. Please note, these gongs were not part of the normal 25 and 50 yard targets set up for the WOT shooters. Several women shooters said they are going to join the club and buy flinters or caplocks. It seems we are now blessed with several new female Longhunters.

This is an annual event at my local gun club. If your gun club is not yet supporting WOT, then they should.
