I know that some of you folks have bowhunting seasons that have already started for whitetail deer and hopefully, you're already doing well.

For the rest of us practicing our shot placement, fine tuning broadheads, and fastidiously packing backpacks, fannypacks, and the like while awaiting opening day, what are your hopes and realistic expectations for this season? (Besides, of course, the enjoyment of the wonderful outdoors and fall's splendor!)

Besides running the different hunting scenarios & shot angles through your heads, what else fills your hunting thoughts for the season?

To not forget to spray your cloths so you don't get chiggers:o
And if you are woundering yes I have them little buggers, been a week now so they should soon be going away.......I hope.
Seems like I do something stupid every year and end up with them:o :(

Never met a chigger, but they don't sound like fun. Around here its mostly mosquitos and ticks - they're bad enough.

I don't get too pumped up for opening day. Its still a little too warm and too many leaves.

My thoughts are....how to get my wife home from her 11-7 job in time for me to take the truck..guess picked wrong time to rid her of her car.....I am up and at-em by 4AM every day...even if stay up late...like tonight... coffee on, sit outside with the pooch..(good thing I didn't shave the dogs legs like I have threatened since I have to sleep with her while the wife on 11-7..is cold out there)....till I have to get up with an alarm clock...then I don't see the 4AM self wake-up on those days...I had to leave the house by 4AM for work for so many years I'm on auto wake...I just can't set the clock or won't wake early that day but if don't set clock, might not get up on time.
Sit outside smelling the cool air, watching the man upstairs turn on the big light for the day so I can see and as you stated, run all those past hunts through the head...along with ...where is the best place to sit this year....ah..should say where to place the girls...as I'm sure they will end up going with me....food for thought....toasted buttered bread, chipped ham, miracle whip and tons of horseradish sandwiches....on mind not to forget those...and most of all the thoughts of all the new toys I NEED to get yet.....so much to do.

Chiggers....my first thought..let me tell ya'll...as a current sufferer of those %^$@& things from my last week's encounter....chiggers are the best things in the world to drive a sane person absolutley mad.

Anyways...I got 2 weeks left to wait...I been watchin the deer alot...they have already changed their patterns. Acorns is droppin all over...so that might be why I dont see as many...I got 2 weeks to sit here and wonder/worry bout wether I got my stands placed right....am i strong enough to get that bow drawn on my moment of truth...etc etc and etc.

The huntin jitters has took me over....along with the chiggers...so needless to say..I'm a full blown basket case bout now..lol:rolleyes:

Should get my deer tag today and the season is open. We have been getting rain and snow this week so should be interesting.
