hey fellas, good to be back on here again, im here in Iraq right now, whats dubbed "the most dangerous city in the world" (Ramadi) and for good reason... its a hell hole here with the mortar attacks, snipers the incomming fire sirens always going off and just day to day grind but we'll keep on truckin , its nice how they have established phone centers and internet centers for us... its a real stress reliever. prey for us here and if you have a little extra money donate it if you got it, it really does make a difference us marines as well as soldiers and sailers all appreiciate every penny and its really adding up. , i probably wont have a chance to check replys for a while but itll be good to hear them when i do.... take care and semper fi

We sent a HUGE box of sunglasses over (requested) but jerky is a great idea. I have a bunch of guys who may just be able to provide it.
Lemme work on it

One of the major tenets of the Muslim religion is that all infidels are to be put to the sword, and you my friend are an infidel to them. Don't ever think you are their friend, you're not. Keep your head down guy and best wishes. Hurry home.

"one thing i know we all would appreciate is some Deer Jerky, and lots of it... if you guys could send some since im gonna miss the season it i would be in a world of graditude"

have a group of hunters here in MI gearing up and offering to donate venison/jerky. More hunters are joining the cause every day.

We will likely end up having a big "Smoke Fest" to prepare the jerky and send in one large shipment (nothing worse than guys not having enough to pass around and share !) :o

I end up giving away my venison every year anyway...this year I hope to add a mulie and an elk to this most-worthy cause.

just let me know where to send it

I had hoped to be able to send a package off in time for the holidays. But at least we're still on the right track.

A local smokehouse owner (himself a veteran) has offered to professionally process, smoke and shrinkwrap all venison we can deliver to him for the troops ! The caveat is he cannot due it until the first of the year when his busy season is over.

So....its taking longer than planned, but still ON THE WAY TO YOU !!

in the meantime

I have noticed on a few of the shooting/hunting boards threads that like to bash unions. Our union has a few thousand members. Union members support the troops with more than just words.

Our union put out an appeal to the membership for donations. In the appeal we listed every item that was suggested to us by returning servicemen and women. Everything from Twizzlers to hygiene products was on that list. Within days our members started filling large boxes with items on the list. We formed a committee to collect, box and ship the supplies over seas. Many members also donated cash so that we could pay for shipping.

Within a month we collected an exceptional amount of donated items and shipped out more heavy boxes than you can imagine.
Later, we received a request for writing stationary, pens, pencils and a few items that were not on the original list. Another appeal went out to our membership and the supplies were rolling in again. We did it for the troops but it sure made me feel good every time we loaded up and headed to the post office.

Sorry we couldn’t supply some venison jerky too. :>)

ROCKY - Thank you for all that you do for our grateful country - be safe.

FIJI. yeah i finally got the packages, 6total, about 2weeks ago, sorry i diddnt reply earlier i was out in the city when i got them and we dont even have running water or electricty out there let alone internet. i just got back here last night, but your thoughts and kindness will not soon be forgotten. many of my buddies are telling me how great the jerkey is, they asked me who sent it to me and i told him about this little hunting club im a member of and how they sent it with the help of some michigan hunters, and the only response they could give was. "thats gotta be the best hunting club in the world" i grinned and said yeah they are pretty good people. :) thanks again, dont worry this will not go unnotticed.

I was worried that someone along the way might have "accidentally detoured" the package once they saw the list of contents !! :D

We have a dedicated group of sportsmen & women who have vowed to expand the shipment (substantially !) next season.

My first wish would be that ALL the fine service people would be home ...so we would have nobody to send it to. Second wish would be to repeat the small token of thanks that we managed to put together this year.

Stay safe...God speed...and enjoy a bit of home !
