This has puzzled me for a long time. I emailed Hodgdon with the question but never received an answer. Here it is:
Why don't the Hodgdon data books say anything about their HS7 shotgun/pistol powder?
My current data book is probably one or at most two versions out of date. In the listing of powders and their intended purposes, there is nothing about HS7. They do show some HS7 loads in their data sections.
I recently saw a Hodgdon data manual in magazine format, which I assume is the latest version, and found the same thing -- no mention of HS7. It's almost as if it doesn't exist or else Hodgdon is ashamed of it.
Anyone have an answer?
