The vote is coming up in the House of Commons to repeal the Firearms Registry. I actually thought we had a chance of doing it. Not now, that shooting at Dawson College in Montreal killed our hopes. People who have no idea of what the Registry is supposed to do are all for it now. If oly people were better informed on the issues, but I guess that's not the case. What do you guys think? Best wishes.

Cal, it might not happen this time, but if the Conservatives keeping working hard like they have been, we still might see it when there is a majority. Plus they can keep up on the ammensty until they do. I won't worry about it until the Liberals get back in power.

I think it is very sad that too many people can't handle anything but simple solutions to complex problems. Some are blaming guns; others are blaming Goths. Both are wrong.
Anyone who shoots knows guns don't create such mental illness, and anyone who knows Goth culture understands they don't create it either. Both guns and Goth attract such people, but neither is responsible for the anger, frustration, and alienation that a kid like Gill was living.
The answer is to licence owners, not guns. The fact that both I and Gill have obeyed all the registration crap laws did nothing at all to prevent the shooting. But guns scare people and people vote. The conservatives (and all the others) are much more interested in votes than in rational laws.
I don't believe they can get enough support to change the ineffective and wasteful gun law mess we have now.
