I have a Savage 10FP in 308. It shoots very well, however, I've noticed that when I'm using my sling, that the forearm warps slightly and pulls up against the barrel. I'm not sure that it really affects the overall accuracy, the groundhogs seem just as dead, but it's somethig I would like to fix if possbile.

Can I stiffen this by putting a ppiece of flat alumium in the bottom and epoxying it in? i figure i will have to rough up the inside of the well to get it to hold.

Any other methods out there?

Hello Critch,

Yes , its easy to stiffen the stock the way your thinking, you'll have to do a bit grinding to make room for the flat stock. But it does stiffen it up. I did it to my Savage 112 22-250 when I bought it in the early 90's

FWIW ... Have you looked into buying a Duramaxx stock for it? Depending on choice of color Black runs 80.00 on sale at midway 100.00 non sale. They are really worth the small outlay I have them on my 22-250 25-06 .308
