My old friend, Harry Beckwith died the other day. He was in bad health, and was 79 years old.
For over 50 years, Harry has been a gun dealer here in North Central Florida. His shop on US 441 South of Gainesville, has been a focal point of the local hunting and shooting crowd.
Harry sold the shop recently, the deal becomes effective the first of November. Last Sunday, there was a big BBQ at his 'castle' next to the gun shop. Hundreds of old friends and customers showed up to pay their respects, eat some good BBQ, and listen to the Blue Grass music.
Yesterday, the family called me to say Harry has left us.
I have lost a friend, mentor, hunting buddy, shooting buddy, and just plain old darn good friend. For over 40 years, I have counted this fine man as one of my favorite people.
