5 hunters (three of these guys are semi-pro hunters)
+ 2 "guides"
= 4 days and many collective miles hiked/hunted
= zero horns seen (a couple guys saw some cows)

not even a mulie track seen
LOTS of other hunters everywhere.
all I personally saw was old tracks
not a shot taken

PM me if anyone wants the sorry details :(

Oh yeah....this was right near where we were:

Dang, sorry the trip was a bust....still enjoyed your visit and the yuppie mud. Guess thats why it's called hunting....still a bummer
though!
SAR's are common here almost year around. You gotta hand it to the folks that take thier own time to try to find the unfortunant..do a great job. As we chatted, I lost my bedside manner on that a while back.

Sorry for the outcome.

Generally, a bunch of hunters around will at least keep the animals moving about.

While every region has natural pitfalls and hazards, mountain hunting can put you in harms way darn quick.

Did you hear any shots?

..Sat sounded like opening day of deer season here in Michigan.
couldnt believe how many shots we heard

shots were everywhere down in the valley all around us. Only a few shots heard on Sun and Mon. All those shots, and all those hunters walking around....we figured would push the elk up our way to the dark timber. No such luck.

No idea where they went ('prolly private land) but they sure didnt come our way. :(

My guess they went to a lower area, not higher. With several good snows and hunting pressure from Sep 1 til your trip, thats my guess. Were ther many elk bites in the aspen?
Mega shots, amaizing how many of these dudes wait until they get into the hunting area to sight in a rifle.................doesn't do the game any good.
