I DARE YOU to break my record this hunting season. I have taken two youth hunters out this year one was 12 the other 15. They both got there first deer. The deer were Does but the boys were happy one shot was 80 yards the 12 year old the other was 50 yards on the run. the boys fathers are not around. I think i had more fun than the boys nothing more fun tham watching a young hunter get their first deer. so come on and break my record please do it for the young hunters

Congrats on your/their succcess

They are hooked now. Not going to be able to hunt up your way this year which disappoints me a lot. A lot of deer down our way so between the bow, shotgun and muzzleloader should get in about 2 1/2 months of chasing them.

I hunted with a fellow in NH like you, when I was in HS. My dad did not have time or interest, so I was lucky enough to get invited to hunt with a NH Yankee. We had many fine trips together.

Your a gentleman sir. That is how I got my start (good or bad lol) was from a mentor like yourself . I always have time for kids and the outdoors.

In the past couple of years, I've spent quite a bit of time teaching younger hunters (younger siblings, and others who wanted to go) "the ropes" of hunting. So far this fall, a majority of bow season has been spent taking young hunters out. One of my friends recently expressed an interest in hunting, so I'll probably take him out during gun season. It's a great way to spend time in the woods, and strengthen or develop new friendships with others, and a very rewarding experience.

What a way to make someones day Mainguy. Keep up the good work. Make many more memories for all to enjoy. One of the new hunters I had been taking out has gotten expelled from school 2 times so far this year and I told him before I wouldn't take him with me if not change these ways. And so far I have kept my end of the deal.

As most of you know by my website we have many young people who we have taught the wonders of the outdoors. I truly believe these activities turn young boys into men...their fathers dont seem to have the time or inclination and in many cases the skills to take their young people by the hand and show them how to get along in nature....congrats on your time well spent with these young people....

It is a program which my daughter wanted to participate in (which made Dad extremely happy). It is a mentor style program where the kids can't participate without a adult mentor and is an on going,year to year, program. This is our first year in it. While I've spent most of my life doing the things that CYO is covering, having your child jump in for the participation of outdoor group activities is very rewarding. So far we've done fly fishing, spin fishing, hunters safety, the Elk bugle in Estes Park and trap shooting with big game calls on the docket after Thanksgiving. All of the events feature a local expert that speaks on the subject and instructs the participants. There has been no cost to the participants. CYO even sponsers a competitivve trap team. It's something that both my daughter and I look forward to.

I would recommend this type of program for every state.

Having fun with the kids outdoors can't be beat.
