Since mid-November, many boards including us have had troubles with a new automated spam/scam trick. The spammers automatically look for message boards with high member count and/or high traffic. The software then attempts to register as a member and as soon as they are approved, they post pre-written messages in the forums.
It's automated, so they just turn the thing on and everybody gets pelted. We've instituted a few new policies here (mostly behind the scenes) and catch most of them before they get onboard - and the rest as soon as we notice them.
But we still need you folks' help. If you see a blatant spam or troll, hit the "Report this post to a moderator" button, please.
With your help, we can keep the viagra ads from popping up
