View Full Version : You know that you've seen to much snow when ...

6) Know exactly how big a patch of snow you have left before you start your vehicle to melt the icy glaze off the windows.
5) Have trails shoveled for your pet to relieve themselves.
4) Get excited when then forecast is for 4" or less.
3) Get tired of taking pictures to email family and friends and resort to cut & paste technology.
2) Start numbering your shovels for particular jobs.
1) Actually start recognizing 6am shoveling as a neighborhood social event.
You're welcome to add more ... this is our 3rd week in a row.

5B - Your pet has been using the spot at the end of his path for days, and you can't tell.
7 - you start a second set of snow mounds at the end of your drive because you can't throw snow high enough to reach the top of the first set.
8 - The ski resorts close because their parking lots are too full of snow to have room for cars.
8B - The ski resorts close because the ski lift chairs are buried.
9 - That constant rumbling you hear in the distance isn't traffic but avalanches.
9B - That constant rumbling ISN'T in the distance

In 1997 I had to buy a new fishing boat because when spring came, my old boat was still snowed in the shed where I was keeping it when fishing season opened. Honest.
I feel guilty sitting here in MN. We haven't had to shovel once this winter, it rained over an inch last week instead.

We have had NONE. and I'd love some. We had 1 snow event so far that was 1/2", and I don't call that an event.
I'd like to have a blizzard. 20" of thick wet nasty stuff.

I'd like some snow too. We have absolutely none.
The weather report says possibly next week.

At least there's enough of a break between storms for the Icy Hot to loosen up the muscles and the trash haulers to pickup the trash.
Dan, the scary thing is we normally get our big snow in March and
April.
I'm not complaining to much, but like anything it's all about moderation. Unfortunately, mother nature seems to not understand that idea at times.
10) The kids are complaining about not being able to go to school.
10b) The parents are complaining even more about the kids not being able to go back to school.
11) A customer inquires about:
a) the shovel department
b) windsheild fluid
c) ice melt
d) sleds
and is greeted by a raucious laugh that echos through the store.
11a) Same customer asks if some could be brought in from another store. Mame, every highway from Wyoming to New Mexico and from the mountains to Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma are closed. No. What am I suppose to do? We do have a box of Swiss Miss, a bag of marshmallows and a few cans of Chicken Noodle soup.

Yeah....try to remember the tourist comments..."you live in Colorado because you love snow"....a couple of us ( you and me)
live here to make a living...LOL Oh, Jefferson Co came by last night and plowed...street had been useable for 2 weeks...now, I gotta clear a 3' ridge from driveway....still got a ice bed...

Swift, I hear you on that one. I have a bud in western Maryland that is crying for a noreaster to keep the local ski resort open.
I read in todays paper that come Monday morning sidewalks must be cleaned or ticketing begins. The little ones need to be able to walk to school or bus stops safely.
I can't wait to fire up the grill and watch the snow melt.

I'm proud of you guys, it builds character.
If you complained you might get Jesse Jackson there to protest for the government to help you. I haven't heard anyone holler to FEMA for help either.
I know better.

Pockets, at Christmas, we asked for Jessie and FEMA to stay away...we had it handled in bout 4 hours......same with the other dumpings! As to removal of the stuff, we are simply gonna make water.LOL
Every thing in my area was progressing well till the sheep started moaning for the government to plow and get it straight......several generations have lost the ability to take care of themselves....JMOO...

I finally found a new snow shovel at Lowes yesterday. One of mine is so bent up that it is useless and (11c) the other has a foot long 1x2 taped in the middle to keep it straight (the cheap plastic handle bent under all the stress).
I ended up using a flat spade just to get by, that was tedious.
Our 6am meeting consists of me pushing my neighbor's Camry out of the cul-de-sac. It wouldn't be too neighborly to crush the snow bank next to him and wave as I go by!?!?!? The side streets still suck.
I will have to say though, it has been another great lesson in people helping people.

12) Your weatherman quits putting little clouds, snowflakes sunshine faces above the days of the week and instead writes "get your errands done early in the week"
Appears that our friends from the "Great White North" are setting us up for a Alberta Clipper. BBQ may be put off a week. The wind is definately less fun than the snow.
Rocky, I believe you mentioned something about Avalanches.
Folks in the high country best beware things are not safe up there.

I love it. Usually at this time of year it's -30°, today it was +30°. Sure cuts down on the heating bill and as we all know thats less emmisions.

Was 69 in the Boston area yesterday. Had one flurry all year. Was out in a T Shirt yesterday. Nolticed some of the spring flowers are starting to come up. This is messed up. I'm not gonna laugh cause we are gonna get hammered sooner or later. In the mean time to quote a unfavorite politician "I feel your pain".
My brother lives in Littleton and he is just about had it.

Don't feel to sorry for us, I was ice fishing today and we caught a bunch of trout. Beautiful day for hard water fishing ton of folks out, 5 to 10" of ice. It's actually quite humorous, being a Minnesota native, Miami has Little Havana and San Fran has Chinatown ... if you want to find upper midwest folks in Colorado find hard water! North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the U.P.
just today. You betcha by golly a fine day for fishing. You can move the man out of the north, but you can't take the north out of the man. :D
