The bears definitely deserved that one, and they came to play. They made fewer mistakes, and got all of the breaks in the game (fortune favors the prepared). Let's hope the SuperBowl is a good game.

I loathe the Colts, don't really like the Pats either. I was doing some reloading during that game.
Now I hope the real Bears show up for the big "one". I like the Bears because they are from the black and blue division.
Go Bears.
Best wishes, Bill

Hey Sweetheart
I should be so lucky. Right now it's -3 outside and I'm freezing my rump off. But we are having global warming, right?
Go Bears. I hope they stomp the Colts into horse manure.

I havent watched a game all year. Not a football fan, not anymore. But always used to like Da Bears.
How the hell did they get to the show? They looked awful. That QB and his little floatin flutter passes, anybody can pick him off.
Sorry guys, but that was disappointing to say the least. They didnt deserve to win. Or even be there from what I could see.

I knew the Bears would win or lose via Rex Grossman and he managed to lose the game for them. I think he threw 3 interceptions and one for a TD. The Colts aren't the Cardinals. I think the Bears won another game in which Rex gave up a lot of turnovers, but that team was a mediocre team too.
Out of the NFC, the Bears were probably the best team around. In the NFC, teams were still in the playoff hunt with 8-7 records with one game left to play.

Where were McMahon, Payton, Dent, Singletary and Gault when we needed them? I remember a few more from that vaunted team also.
I wish the Bears would trade someone of some worth and get Bret to play for them. He's still got a couple good years left, barring injuries.
Heres to NEXT year bud. I don't see anybody in that division improving enough to give the Bears a fight for the Championship.
Best wishes, Bill

Thats the whole reason I watched this game. Fond memories of The Super Bowl Shuffle.
I was in college and our fraternity, TKE, went to a school two hours south and had a keg/ superbowl party for the 86 game when they dominated.
Fond memories for sure. ;)

Fabs,
While I agree Rex stunk the place up, The game was lost in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The D line couldn't get to Manning if their life depended on it. The were getting pushed off their gaps all game long. And the O line was getting pushed around also. Rex was bad, but so was the rest of the team. Even the punter, Brad Maynard, who is consistantly good was bad too. You can't just blame one guy for yeasterdat's loss. BTW I don't think the play calling was so great either. In my opinion it has been suspect much of the year.

McPat,
I'll agree with you. There was hardly any pressure on Manning, and the one time they did put some pressure on him, which I thought was going to be a sack, he threw a touchdown to Reggie Wayne on a blown coverage. That cost the Bears 7, but there is no saying that the Colts wouldn't have continued to drive down the field, even if Manning was sacked on that play, and score 7. Same goes for the interception that Grossman threw for a touchdown. Even if it hadn't resulted in a return for a touchdown, there is no saying that Peyton wouldn't have been able to march right down the field and score 7.
Yep, the Bears stunk all the way around. The play calling should have been more of the short throw variety where Grossman would have had less of a chance of being picked.
The Bears couldn't stop the run either. I think Rhodes was able to run the ball in rather easily from the 3 or 4 yard line.
I think the Bears were doing to Super Bowl shuffle one night too early and way too late into the night. I really thought the bad weather was going to help the Bears with the turnovers, but it seemed like it helped the Colts more. Also, Grossman putting the ball on the ground twice and stopping drives by doing so in the second half didn't help anything. I think he did something like that when it was 2nd and 1 near midfield and he took an 8 or 10 yard loss that resulted in a punt. The first time he did it, I think he gave the Colts the ball on the Bears' 35 yard line.
In the end, the entire Bears team screwed up, but I think Grossman's screwupS had a lot more effect on the game. One guy had a blown coverage, but that was the only one. Yeah, the defense was missing tackles. However, Grossman threw 3 interceptions and put the ball on the ground twice. That really reminds me of the Arizona game and the other game he played horrible in, but the defense was able to save him on both occassions. The one time he played terrible and the defense didn't play great, you see what you got. The Ravens won the Super Bowl because Trent Dilfer, a no name quarterback, played smart and didn't turn the ball over. That is why I blame Grossman for most of the loss. The offense cannot continue to screw up all night long and hope that the defense pulls them out of it.
In the end, I will agree with you that the entire Bears team played terrible, but how would you like to be the Bears defense and have the offense put you in so many terrible spots? That had to be demoralizing.

Fabs,
I could pick this game apart all day long, (BTW Rex only had two picks, Gilmore fumbled once, Benson fumbled once and Rex fumbled twice-once for a turnover for a total of 5 turnovers). I still can't put most of the blame on Rex. The defense was missing tackles and not hitting their assignments all day long and that doesn't put the offense in the best of positions either. Let's just say it was a less than stellar performance on both sides of the ball.
Let's face it, the only thing that can be said now is...pitchers and catchers report on a week! GO CUBS:D
