Hi folks, it's good to be back on Huntchat. I used to post under the username of Dannyboy a few years ago before I went off to RCMP training.
I'm expecting a transfer to a detachment near Edmonton in the next 2 months and was wondering if anyone could refer me to a good smith in the Capital region. I'm looking at rebarreling an Abolt II. What should I expect to pay? (blued steel, common chambering)

abigmountie................when I lived in northern Alberta I never did find a gunsmith I liked (not saying there isn't one there) and used one in Ft. St. John. He has now moved to Cranbrook, BC, and his name is Ralf Martini.......he learned the trade in Germany before immigrating to Canada.
No big deal shipping your rifle in the mail. Check out:

In the olden days I was in K Division as well, followed by E.

Wow, not a lot of action on this board. Anyone else have any suggestions of a decent gunsmith in Edmonton or area for a straightforward rebarrel ?
Also, I called Natchez SS today to order a scope online and they advised me that 'with the changes in the laws recently' that they were unable to ship optics to Canadian customers. Anyone out there with a similar experience?
