Tang Sights

I need some help. Where is a guy to look to find Tang Sights?

Heres what I have, a CVA St. Louis Hawken. I love that thing and it shoots great. I want the Tang Sights cause it would add some appeal to the Rifle, I think. I have Irons now, no scopes on this rifle for me.

What I am trying to accomplish is having the one set of sights set for 100yds. and the other set, the tangs set for 200yds. Is this possible?

I have shot at 200 with the standard sights and yes I can hit a 1' square gong at that distance, so can this be done?

Also, just where do I look to find Tang sights? I don't have a lot of info for Muzzleloaders. I'm mainly a centerfire kind of guy.

I have seen them advertised, but they are not cheap. I can`t really remember where but you might try www.gunparts.com, or Bornell`s. You might also go to the NMLRA web page and look at their sponcers.

Cabela`s has them, but what catfish said about price. I have a cheap one on my I.A.B. 1874 sharps, and the windage adjustment is set screws at the base of the sight, they always come lose, and no real marks for repeat adjustments. BUT, they are really cool, even if they are cheap, lol.

There are a number of different types of tang sights you can look at:

Thompson center has them for the Renegade/etc might work on your gun,

A short Winchester Tang I've seen on a Hawken with a little work done...

Lyman Receiver sight might be workable too.

Midway USA, Midsouth, Brownells all have sights. They run from about $50 to $500.
