Every one of those listed as 24 years old is a spammer that we've caught and banned since November.

They use an automated program to find talk sites like ours, register and then post spam ads, scams and other crap.

Skinny Shooter, Petey and I have to manually scan and ban new members every day before they can post. Since November, we've banned 12 to 15 each day. The list today is just those who used 3/28 as their birthday. There are two or three other "default" birth dates used, too.

We're looking at ways to defeat the problem, but those ways aren't cheap. And the spammers seem to come up with new weapons every time we find a new defense.

They are scum, pure and simple.

Spammers are seriously annoying. We get them on our blog and a forum we have for another company. It is a full time job keeping ahead of them.

Thank you to all of you here who lay the smackdown on the spam. I know what a big job it can be.

I was gonna comment on what kinda month June 1981 musta been but that joke is out.
I gotta find a good fast spam filter for this new PC. I can have 50 spam messages a day easy.Its really a pain.

My IP provider has a Spam filter capability. It takes all the Viagra and porn movies and other assorted trash and quarantines them. All I have to do is press one button and all those messages I don't want to keep go to the garbage can. The program for my IP is called Postini. It does the job.

Maybe your IP can get the same service.
