ATV for hunting

I'm going to start looking for an ATV (my first) for hunting. I'm leaning toward Arctic Cat but I also like the Honda Foreman. I don't really want or need anything bigger than a 500cc and everything I've read and heard from friends is pointing me toward these 2, but I'm also open to suggestions. As I said, this will be my first ATV and I know that there is some periodic maintenance required to keep them running well so I'm looking for an ATV that is easy to work on. Suggestions? Thank you.

This is like any thing else. To each their own, but Polaris is one of the easiest I know of to work on and the ride is alot better than most. If you are going to be spending alot of time riding it you want something that is going to be a pleasure to ride. That's why I picked Polaris. The new Can Am is suppose to be really nice to ride also, although I've never been on one and don't know much about them other than they used to be Bombardier. I also agree with the 500cc part. Mine's a 400 and it will do anything that I want done.

My hunting buddy and I looked and looked at ATVs. We finally settled on the Honda, actually we got 3 of them, one 300 and two 250s, all 2 wheel drive. We hunt the swamps, creeks and clay mud of NW Florida and south Alabama. We have never had a problem and never needed a 4 wheel drive, never got one stuck.

In Idaho where you will be climbing hills and rocks, you might have a need for the 4 wheel drive version. The big thing about the Honda is the hydrostatic clutch and thumb throttle on the right handlebar. You can also get to just about every thing on it, without standing on your head and making three wishes.

My lastest ATV is a 48 Volt Club Car, it does about 20mph and is real comfortable. But is is a trail vehicle, not much for through the woods as it is pretty wide. but it sure is quiet.

Boy, there's so many machines out there. Back when I was looking a few years ago the Bombardier was the best I saw, but then it depends on how close the dealership is, your price range, etc. I settled on the Honda Foreman 500, it's actually closer to 450cc. Personally I would not give up my 4WD for any 2WD model. I can crawl thru the swamps, where momemtum is the name of the game w/2WD. The other thing that sold me was I can switch it out of 4WD and run it in 2WD for normal riding, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

I know this is sort of an old post..but anyone hear of a Sunl quad or bikes?...If so, what sort of information can you post..good or bad....I do believe they are out of Texas????? I hear they are good machines and cheap when comes to cost.

The Suzuki is very smooth and powerfull, I use my King Quad in CO. at high elevations and in extream cold, and it works great.
