My condolences on your loss. It's amazing how attached you can get to a dog.
My Dad had to put his Yellow Lab down about a month ago. It still feels like there's a hole in the family.
Keep remembering the good times though. It does help.

My condolences. There is a sentimental poem that I found a copy of on the internet: http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm
It summarizes my hopes and dreams of what may be possible.
Hang in there.

Someone used to have a sig line that was a Mark Twain quote that read, "When a dog dies they take a piece of your heart but leaves you a piece of his, and humans always out in that deal." I hope I got all the words in the right place.
I think it was gspsonnys sig line.
Any way I think that just about sums it up about how we feel about our dogs and how they reciprocate.
Best wishes, Bill

I don't doubt your statement one little bit. Don't bother trying to forget, you won't. It's wasted time. Talk to him like he's still there. Everybody else will think your crazier than an outhouse rat, so who cares already. It's part of healing.
My old Lab Beau was my constant companion. I'd be cooking and ask him about what we should be puting in there and he'd sit in the middle of the kitchen floor and look at me like he really cared.
A while back I finally made a decision to get another dog and Nulle mentioned he had one. He told me what it was and I did some on-line reading about the breed.
Well I just love him. His previous training was lousy. He does most things well now except dropping the bird. He can smell a pheasant a mile away. Great flusher and retriever. Every once in awhile I slip and call him Beau, he doesn't seem to mind at all.
Don't be afraid to be sad and miss your partner. It's only human.
Best wishes, Bill

Dan,
I am sorry to hear about your loss. As you probably know, my dog, Nitro, is a yellow lab and he just turned 4 last week. I cry every time I think about him passing before I do. It truly sucks that man's best friend only lives a fraction of a man's life. As I write this at midnight, Nitro just came down the stairs to check on me and lay on his bed right next to my office chair. I'm about to break down and cry and give him a hug.
I would normally tell you to let me know if there is anything I can do for you, but I know there isn't. Hang in there.
Just gave Nitro one of my Triscuits. Couldn't help it after reading this thread.

Dan,
I'm truly sorry for your loss. He's always there, sparkle in the eye and smile on his face. Keeping an eye on your back and the squirrels out of the yard.

Dan, I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't know how I missed this. It must have been when I was getting the new computer set up, but I'm terribly sorry for you.
Billy, Thanks for remembering my sig line. I took if off when we lost our dog in February. Every time I seen it I'd lose it. But it's back now and thanks.
