I have a Weatherby Accumark in 7STW and it love the Barnes 160's but I would really like to get a better BC bullet like the 162 A-Max to shoot. Tried the Accubond and they were just ok. Tried the Sierra 175's just ok.
Any info would be helpful. I just can't seem to get them to group tight like the Barnes which shoots three rounds into 5/8" at 200.

Kevin, I have to ask; why did you buy a 7 STW and what's wrong with the Barnes if it groups so well?
If I had a rifle that shot 5/8 inch groups at 200 yards, I would not change ONE SINGLE THING. I would cherish it as the rare specimen that it is.
I'm sure you've heard it before, but it appears to need repeating:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Rocky,
I've always been impressed with the 7STW and finally had an opportunity to aquire one and I also like Weatherby's. The 7mm bullets in on the heavy side have wonderful ballistic performance if you can get them to fly w/ the velocities achievable with the 8Mag case to reach out beyond 500. I even tried Richard's Wildcat bullets in 200 grain but they keyholed unfortunately. The rifle is suppose to have a 1/9 twist but it is more of a 1/9.25.
Jack,
I am please w/ the ability of the rifle to shoot as well as it does, but, I am looking or that 'other' option in bullet selection for this rifle. It cranks those 160's at 3350fps w/7828 in 80 degree weather. The 162's will do the same w/8700 powder but I just can't get them tight like the Barnes.
Remember it's a Weatherby and there is gobs of 'Freebore' in that chamber. I can't even come close to the rifle.
You are right it is not broke by any means and it shot that well on the 2nd time to the range.
I'm just looking for a better heavier bullet.
