The policy they are proposing will eliminate the sale of any item that helps to make a gun go bang...form the trigger to the barrel to the brass and bullets. Definitely from the LOFAN for certain. I sent a letter of protest and the answer I got sounds like one of the most assinine piles of crap . Sounds like a middle level political hack!
the answer below
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the new firearms-related
policies.
While many everyday items can be used to cause harm to an individual,
most items we permit for sale on eBay are not designed with the intent
to cause harm or are not likely to be used to cause harm. In general, if
items are legal to buy and sell in an unrestricted manner, we allow them
to be sold on eBay. Many firearm-related parts that can legally be
bought or sold have historically been allowed on eBay.
However, after the tragedy at Virginia Tech, eBay's Trust and Safety
team along with executives at the company felt it was important to
re-examine our existing Firearms policy and evaluate if it still met the
needs of our marketplace and our company.
While no items related to the incident were purchased illegally on our
site, it was important to make some changes to ensure we do everything
possible to provide a safe marketplace. After careful consideration, we
decided to restrict listing any part that is required for the firing of
a gun.
It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.
Sincerely,
Jasyn

My reply is already posted on three different forums. I have not and will continue to NEVER purchase anything from them or buy through Paypal.
As I said in an earlier post on this forum I would not support their anti gun policies to save a few pennies. Of course I got beat about the head and ears for stepping in somebodys turf. Then they gave me a lecture on how great sleazebay is/was.
Buying ANYTHING from them is selling your soul to the devil.
Best wishes, Bill

Hey skeet
Some wise A$$ like me and you posted an "assault rock" on sleazebay. If you miss it there you can catch the add on The Smith and Wesson forum. :D :D :D

That guy doesn't have an original aboriginal assault rock I have it right here. Bet I can get more for mine than he can. I also have a complete collection of assault stones..little pointy ones that fit on the end of a stick.

This thing weighs 4 1/2 lbs. When it was on the end of a stick it hadda be an able guy that wielded that thing. Hate to think about gettin hit with it for certain:eek:
My reply to ebay
Jasyn,
A safe marketplace? What is a safe marketplace? I get scam emails and
phising emails all using the ebay logo... and you want to restrict something
like a shotgun barrel or reloading brass that only legal shooting entusiasts
use...or even a replacement trigger. You have to have the gun to use a
replacement trigger to begin with..or even the brass or heaven help us the
projectiles that are used in reloading ammunition. You restrict the
important items such as primers and powder. How is restricting the sale of a
barrel or brass or even the bullets going to make for a safe marketplace.
Looks to me as though it is just the fact that ebay wants to cover their
butts and restrict the sale of legal items. As far as many items not being
designed to cause harm to an individual...the inanimate object doesn't cause
harm..it is the person who uses it. My 25,000 dollar shotgun(I bought an
extra barrel for it on ebay) was not designed to cause harm to an individual
anymore so than my 45000 dollar automobile(Also an ebay item at one time).
Use either recklessly and they CAN cause harm. You demonize the firearm and
the people who use them legally with these new policies. Rethink these new
policies as they only cause hardship on the law abiding. They certainly
don't make for a safer marketplace. And also don't forget, as most very
liberal thinking people have, illegal is just that and criminal is just
that. With these new policies you seem to say to the law abiding shooting
public that WE are criminals. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Wasting air huh??

Honestly, I think ebay is a necessary evil. Why doesn't somebody set up an e-bay like site for shooting stuff since they won't have any competition from ebay. I wonder how hard it would be to set up a site like that. We already have gun broker, but how about a site where people can list hunting and shooting items for sale other than guns, with the stipulation that all the items up for bid must be able to be shipped straight to the buyer without involving an FFL. It will only be a matter of time. Then, if they get a foothold in the market through this niche, maybe they can open up additional categories and hurt ebay somewhat.

Wasn't there someplace that sponsored this site that had auctions and the like a few years ago? I don't think they offered guns or ammo, but seemed like they had other outdoor stuff. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

Definitly something to think about. I wonder what type of legal issues something like that would cover/require. I suppose if you did something where your butt wasn't covered and the way the world is today, someone could take you for all you got? Homeland Security and all that other BS and stuff you gotta worry about. I'm sure someone would find a loophole and sue ya because you're providing an engine to promote something the gov't deems wrong.
I'd want those types of questions answered before I'd consider it.

Which may be the reasons eBay decided to not allow these items any longer.
It is ridiculous though.

Anybody can sue anybody, plain and simple. Petey, if I meet somebody on this chatboard and they kill me, my wife could sue you. Of course, she probably wouldn't win, but she could sue you nonetheless. Kind of like people suing Remington after they pull the trigger and kill their buddy because the trigger was too light at 4 lbs. Hence, Remington's 7 lb trigger. LOL Don't know exactly what the poundage of the Remington trigger is, so don't go jumping down my throat.
As long as the stuff being shipped/sold isn't a gun, does it really matter? And even if it is a gun, just because you facilitate it doesn't mean you are in charge of the transaction. How many people sue e-bay when they don't get their goods? Probably zero, with the exception of the $200 and $2,000 guarantee, which needs an attorney just to figure the darn thing out. An auction website is never taking possession of the goods. It merely charges the seller a fee to list the goods.
What happens if somebody sends a gun to a terrorist on this site as a result of the "Swap & Shop" forum? You could be in a heap of trouble for that one!!!!!!! LOL

That's it!!! I'm taking Huntchat down for liability issues.
In all seriousness, what a sad world we live in.

With the invention of computers and copiers, it makes litigation a lot easier. All I have to do is cut and paste from Complaints and edit them slightly, and I can file a lawsuit. Evidence in the form of documents can be copied and attached to the Complaint. 30 years ago, this wasn't possible, and secretaries would have to re-type an entire Complaint if the attorney wanted to make a single change to it. Litigation used to be very labor intensive.
Technology is both great and scary.
