Season over before it starts

Looks like my bow season is over before it even gets started:mad:
I have a tendon torn off from my rotator cuff and go in for surgery on 9/11 (isn't that promising). Doc says I'll be in a sling for 4 - 6 weeks with no movement of my shoulder allowed. After that, I'll start rehab with a recovery time of 6 - 9 months. I plan on knocking that time frame down as much as possible, but it still puts the brakes on pulling a bow back this year.
I'm not even sure if I'll be able to gun hunt. Doc wasn't to keen on a rifle going off against my shoulder. Might have to start practicing left handed with the Raging Bull 44mag.
Hopefully, I'll at least be able to get out with my son and take him bowhunting.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder and missing the whole season. There's always next year I guess.

All the best for a speedy recovery LoneWolf. And, I think that's a good idea to learn to shoot left handed, either with rifle or pistol or both. I was hoping to get back for Michigan's gun season this year but won't make it, too much on the plate, maybe next year, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Sorry to hear about this Lonewolf. However, don't be in too much of a hurry to make it back for this season. Better to make sure that you heal completely and right before hunting. Otherwise, you might jeapordize more hunting seasons in the future. Concentrate on taking your son out hunting and letting him do the shooting instead.

Very sorry to hear that you'll miss bow season. That's a tough one to take. Hopefully you'll be able to get out during gun season with your handgun. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

saw a man with one arm bow hunt by putting a piece of rawhide on his string and pulling it back with the rawhide in his teeth. teh deer wont be the only ones in the woods with swollen knecks.

yeap they even make crossbow holders that go onto the rail of a treestand and cranks to cock the string. no real recoil and about 50 yards of range with the nicer ones.

Thanks guys. I thought about the cross bow route, but it sounds like I would be struggling just to get my stuff into the woods, according to the Docs. I go in Tuesday morning for the operation. Then its's 4 - 6 weeks in a sling with no shoulder movement allowed. Then they tell me up to 4 weeks rehab just to be able to lift the arm on its own.:(
I'm not looking forward to missing the seasons, but the whole summer has already been very limited on what I can do, and the pain at night is the worst. I'll just suck it up and rehab as fast as I can so I'm ready for next year. The wife has already figured out I will probably get a touch grumpy from my lost time in the woods:D
