I just obtained a great reference book about Springfiled Armory arms. Written by Robert W. D. Ball, it lists and thoroughly documents 255 models of shoulder arms produced by Springfield Armory from its inception in 1794 until its closing in 1968.
There are many great color photographs to complement the text and help us identify arms, inspector's cartouches and rare prototypes of the more common arms from Springfield. The detailed information is easy reading and will be an aid to identifying many arms encountered by serious arms collectors.
