I have used a full length die to neck down 30-30 brass and make 7-30 waters brass and it worked fine .
Can I use a full length die to neck down 30-06 brass to use in a 25-06 ? Not sure if it's a foolish question or not .......

That`s a big step to do at one shot. I would try a run through a 270 FL die 1st then use your 25-06 die. The necks will likely be too thick and need turning also. I think it would be easier to just buy proper head stamped brass and forgo the work. The `06 is cheap enough that I don`t see the gain in all the work.......JMO

I would agree with Ol Joe- an intermediate step would be a good idea...like a 270 or 280 die, first, then neck down to 25-06.
I also agree it probably isn't worth it, unless someone gave you a tub full of free 30-06 brass.
And, you may have to neck turn the 30-06 cases after you neck them down to 25. Depends on the neck thickness of the original 30-06 cases, and the neck diameter of your 25-06 chamber.

Another trick that oftens help is to run you brass through the seating die befor you run it through the sizeing die. I`ve taken alot of .22 cal. brass to .17 cal. by doing this and never lost any doing it. I`ve also taken 6mm brass down to .22 cal. this way. Going from .30 cal. to .25 you would probibly be better if you could run it through a .27 die. I like to lube my case necks with Mica when sizeing them down.

Eddie,
I started out reducing 30-06 brass to 6.5 for my two 6.5x06 guns. The result is uneven necks that will not trim to even lengths in every instance, untill the brass has been fired a few times. You also loose a few pieces as you go.

It is always better to reduce the least amount you can, and to use brass long enough to be able to trim it properly. So use the 270 brass to start with if you feel you must reduce. The 270 cartridge is longer than the 06 brass and will allow you to trim it out correctly on the first try, plus it is simple to reduce in a FL die.

However, my suggestion would be to start with 25x06 brass and do not fool with the micky mouse BS of trying to make your own brass. Midsouth sells bulk brass in plastic bags and usually has about the best prices on brass.
