Epizootic hemorrhagic disease is carried by a biting midge. Signs include loss of appetite, loss of fear of humans, excessise salivation, rapid pulse, and fatigue. deer are fevered and dehydrated and seek water, not every deer with it dies.
I shot a deer once in southern Ohio with what I was told was BLUETONGUE, Is it the same or different?
Deer was walking in 15 foot circle round and round and let me come within about 20 yards right up the field edge. Shot it and called in the park ranger and he had DNR come out and test it. I though it was rabies cause of the drool coming out of the mouth.
