I've got an old Western folder in need of some work.
Does anybody know of a knivesmith who might do?
Western is outta bussiness and so is Cammilus who bought the Western trademark name.

Hopefully Rick R will chime in here. I know he would know.
I did a quick search on Knifesmith's in WY and came up with Wheatland Mercantile in Wheatland,WY. Is that close?

When I worked for Camillus, we outsourced some of our repair work to an individual (and I don't remember his name) but he only did so if we supplied the parts to fix the knife. Not knowing what is wrong with your knife, I would do a search for custom knife makers and contact some of the smaller name makers and see if they are interested in taking a look at it. I hate to say it but I don't think you'll have much luck but you never know!!

Yep too bad my Uncle ain't with us anymore he used to do some of the dangdest knife work you have ever seen. But we lost him years ago.
Anyway you might be able to find a knifemaker/knifesmith out there who will fix it. If not why not give it a try yourself. If its broke it ain't like you can make it too much worse.
I have fixed more than one of my own folders, it does get a little involved but it ain't horrible.

I have repaired my fair share of knives over the years but never a folder. I have always worked on fixed blade knives.
Here is a Western with a missing handle and a broken tip. The owner gave me a piece of walnut and asked that I use it for the handle.

Here is a Western with a missing handle and a broken tip. The owner sent me a piece of 50 year old Osage fence post from his granddads farm to use for the handle.

The aluminum pommel has some deep dings and scratches but I can remove them as well. The thing I found odd was that the brass finger guard has a visible notch but that is how it came from the manufacturer.

I re-shaped the blade and got rid of as much pitting as I could without wrecking the blade.

My friend asked that I use oasge for the handle. He sent along a few pieces of 50 year old Osage fence post to replace the leather of the grip.

I rehandled the knife and made him a sheath for it.

This is an olf Italian Bowie a friend found in the rafters of his barn. The sheath was rotted and the handles was damaged. It cleaned up pretty well.
