One of the 2 major gun bills in the house has been struck down yesterday..and I'm dam glad of it.
The bill for unlicensed "dealers" at gun shows requiring them to do background checks on buyers is dead. If that bill would have passed, it would've locked out alot of private sales and that's silly. I love gun shows and the fact that I could bring my gun in and maybe trade it with another person at the show, in a booth or not, is a tradition here.
I dont have a thing to hide but I might have a gun they want and they might have a gun I want, and if they did not have a federal license, I couldn't buy the gun from em. That would suck...so I'm glad it didnt pass.
Btw...hubby is sittin on the other couch...we are in a "discussion" on former VA gov. George Allen..whom I miss in office...offsensive word er not..he was a DAM good elected offcial and done alot for our state. Now it's all gone straight to hell...lol
Anyway, the other bill should be coming up soon, I will keep ya'll informed.

As further info as of yesterday all of the offensive gun bills had been killed, owing in big part to a lot of Democratic senators and representatives. The northern Va. area and their people were the ones pushing all this, as well as some of the familys of the Va. Tech victims. Maybe now we can get around to changing the things that really had to do with that tragedy.

Good point jl, and it looks like we can breathe easy till next year. I did notice though, that a few bills were introduced to change the labels of people who could be classified as "nutjobs" for the new gun laws. Mental retardation was changed, and the one I found interestin, was the definition of " disabled veteran."

Also, it looks like Sunday huntin was killed again.
