I'm looking at getting a new shotgun and I want to have screw in choke on it. But can you shoot with the choke removed if you want to use cylinder choke? Or do you have to buy a cylinder choke tube. Also do rifled choke tubes really improve accuracy?

The choke tube makers tell us to never shoot a shotgun without a tube in place. I have not used a rifled tube so cannot comment. All the best...

You should always use a choke tube. They make cylinder chokes too ya know. And yes rifled tubes do make slugs shoot better. Especially the sabot type slugs. Rifled bbls are even better. I have had more than a few 2 inch and under groups with a rifled bbl and under 3 1/2 inch with rifled chokes. these are 100 yd 5 shot groups. I mostly used 1100-11-87 slug guns for that shooting. Less recoil.

And that pretty much sums it all up pretty well. Nothing for me to add, but might as well get a post in anyway.

Thanks guys. I knew that they made cylinder choke tubes, but I hate to spend an extra $30 if I don't have to.
