I made my decision........Savage Stevins 200

If I remember it is just the old 10 series, but without the accu-trigger. And I had many Savages before the accu-trigger, so I think it is a good deal for less than $300, I think it will be a happy medium.

All I need is a way to pay for it, Wally World don't do layaway any more.

Unless I see a REAL GOOD DEAL in the OKC Gun Show tommorow, I have made my almost final decision..........................................I think:rolleyes:

I have handled the Stevens 200 in .243 and .270 and they were unfired and on the used gun rack for $249.00. I am not very fond of gray synthetic stocks. I prefer used Savage 110 rifles with a wooden stock and standard trigger and they sell for about $200.00 around here. All the best...

I already have visions of OD Green acrylic paint for that funky grey synthetic stock, maybe even a real good 'ol BDU pattern.

I am fantasizing on finding a Mauser action tommorow at the show in OKC, but we will see. Gotta get my lazy butt out of bed first, and the Savage seems a good way to just get it done, and finally get a decent deer rifle.

Shucks, I'm moving to Pennsylvania. You and Adam kill me with the prices you pay for firearms and accessories.

Up here in Podunk land milsurps sell for 1/4 > 1/2 more than what you guys pay. And Leupys are cheaper new than they are used. It's nutso.

I'm still looking for a decent? Mosin. Every one I've seen up here the bores looked like a corroded sewer pipe. So if? ya ever find one with a Sniper scope mounted on it and a good bore, let me know. Like that'll ever happen. I don't mind paying a fare price for something, but I don't like putting my money down for junk.

Best Wishes, Bill

Hey Jon

A word for the wise. Keep your eyes peeled at the show for a Savage stock. Lots of people put tupperware stocks on their guns then sell the leftover stock beau coup cheapo.

Just a hint.

Best wishes, Bill

I weenied out. Got to thinking I am still in debt, and it wouldn't be right to add on to my money miseryright now. But I am perfectly sure I can save $300 by Novembers deer season here.

Provided I don't get a Government position back in Germany (miss the kids something fearce).

I was in a gun shop when Gil was there with a few of his shooting buddies. He picked up an older mint used Savage 110 in 7MM Remington Magnum with walnut stock and bottom metal for $250.00 out the door. The hang tag price was higher, but Gil haggled a bit and got the lower price. There are many, many used gun bargains sitting in the racks around here. Take care,,,

I passed on a new in the box Stevens youth model in .243 at the gun show yesterday for $ 225 out the door. That was hard to do, but I don`t really need another rifle, especially in .243. But, with the grandkids getting older it would be a nice gun to have laying around just incase. If he still has it at the next show I may just bring it home.
