Last weekend, over at Copper Mountain Ski area, DOW had to pop a coyote that had apparently been fed by skiers and got too
aggressive! It hung out near a run and several weeks ago, bit a gal on arm...didn't penetrate the ski togs...last weekend, acted aggressive toward a dad n 3yr old....shut the run down and DOW
took it out.
PLEASE do not feed wildlife, they loose natural fears and you never know how they are going to behave!
Dan

Ditto ! We are having problems with folks feeding deer and wild turkey in town and it is at a point where an ordinance is going to be imposed to stop it.

We have a fair amount of deer around the house here. They are pretty good at figuring things out too. We feed the half wild cats on top of a bunch of pallets near the barn...mainly so the dogs(actually just one) cn't eat their food. Looked out there one morning and there was one of them ol deer...both feet up on those pallets just a chowing down on that there cat food. Other than feeding the birds(those nasty insistent little snots) the only thing I feed the coyotes is lead:D

My understandin was the coyote population was gettin out of hand again? Now I can tell you from personal years of experience, our fish and game are being spread thin, alot of what they do coast guard and DEA did. I fear what the state can do with wildlife, when left to their own divises and funds...shoot in 5 years I will have 15 foot crocs swimming in our back yards, for no other reason than potential fees...

We actually have a bounty on the suckers here in the Bighorn Basin. Only 25-30 bucks this year but the coyotes are plentiful anyway. The gummit trapper was here the other day looking for some more shotgun shells(Fed Prem copper plated 3" BB's). They use them to shoot the coyotes from the planes....and we still have way too many:rolleyes: :D I asked if they were gonna start shootin the grossly excessive wolves(have 4 living behind the house now). He looked at me like I was crazy!:D

BTW the bounty is paid by the stockmans association not the gummit of any sort

Here in the far SW burb, I have coyotes walking down the middle of the streets and singing all the time. Other morning, I was stopped at traffic light when this large one came up to my door looking for a hand out.
They have been feed by people so much....they have NO natural man fear! Get a cat every now and then also. Trouble is,
they are still a wild critter and the huggers do not realize this.

With the fur prices hitting bottom due to overseas imports leaves little to hunt them for other then the sport also.

The really bad thing about feeding wild life is when we stop. Feeding Deer, Elk, Moose, Turkeys in time of emergency is ok.

The problem arises when we stop. Like most welfare recipients the animals get contentious when their benefits are rescinded. I'm talking bears and 'yotes here.

I think letting nature take it's course is better.

Best wiahes, Bill
