Probably shouldn't even bring this up....but what the heck.
Any of you ever wonder about past opportunity that you have passed up?
Myself:
1. High school and college buddy offered a govt deal in Alaska in the early 70's........working on DEW Line.........offered a 6 figure income then!!!!!1 month on ice 2 months in,.had security clearances to have done it...
2. Another high school and college buddy offered a position with WhipStock Inc......Arabia and North Shore oil........again 6 figs...
3. Applied with FBI on a firearms training deal.....had certs to get it....was accepted in 76.......had downgraded from GS16 to a GS5........declined it...
4. Turned all down and left family businesses and decided to pioneer it.........

A can of worms indeed lol
Lookin back..the biggest opportunity I had was the chance to go to college. Don't git me wrong, I aint the college type really.
Here's where the Lilred dork comes in...
In high school, I was right sharp. I always loved history...readin bout it and diggin fer it. I was always active in the county and state on that kinda thing.
When it came time fer graduatin, I was accepted into JMU for a graduate program in history at the College of Arts and Letters which also focused on anthropology, religion and etc.
I didn't go...I was workin and figured I could go the followin year...which...then came love and marriage and a brat in the baby carriage.
I reckon I wont so sharp after all lol....BUT...iffin I woulda went, who knows where I would be today. I might've lost all the simple back woods education I got from my pop.
Lookin back...I still love the subjects...but I'm glad I stayed simple with a simple life.
Nowadays I can sit by the wood stove, cook me a pot of beans and read from my lil library of history books I've collected over the years. I reckon you could say I'm still studyin on the subject.

Had the chance to go to school. Was actually enrolled in the University of Washington. For reaons we won't go into here..my guidance counseler in school "forgot" to send them my school transcripts..as he was supposed to do. When I found out it was just too late to do anything. My fault for not doing it myself. I was also offered my choice of education by my father"s company. The only thing I would have had to do was promise to work for them for 4 yrs after school. They wanted me to go to Law School and take up corporate law. I was too independent(spelled STUPID) so didn't do it. Did get a degree but in the obscure art of Fire Engineering. DUH! Every body was running out of the fires...and I was running in. Again spelled STUPID but sombody has to do it. I did make out ok in life so far. Guided hunters for years..hunted and fished when I wanted...worked in Alaska..South East Asia(again spelled STUPID)..got to travel around the world a few times and have owned a farm or 2 in Md..one in Montana and one in Wyoming now. Can't complain. Be nice to know what I woulda done after going to college.
