1911A1 roll pin punch?

Not getting any responses in gunsmithing so thought I would ask here. Anybody know what size roll pin punch I need to order to get the roll pin holding in my ejector out?

I just read about this yesterday in a circa 1980 DBI Book, "The Gun Digest Book of Pistolsmithing," on pages 230-231 of the article, "Building and Rebuilding the .45 Auto," the mechanics of installing the ejector pin is discussed, but no size is given. The author did say he recommended Loc-Tite on the two legs of the ejector upon istallation.

In other articles, the author discusses drilling out roll pins by using very small (undersize) bits and collapsing the roll pin. Hope this helps.

If that is a roll pin holding the ejector in the frame, put a drop of KROIL on it and let it set a day. Kroil creaps into the recesses and will let the pin slip out of the hole with very little punch work. Brownells has the very small punches and I usually buy at least 1/2 dozen at a time. I am hell on small punches. I think the size is 1/32.

Found a complete set on ebay for not too bad a price, it is already paid for and en route.

Good Luck. I have an old sign near the computer from the days I got paid to be in an office. It may apply and is from "Zumwalt's Laws of the Laboratory" quote, "Experience and Progress is Directly Proportional to the Amount of Equiment Ruined". # 1, I hate roll pins.

Get the largest diameter punch that you can find that fits in the pinhole. HMMMM tha sounds lewd and lascivious.

Anyway, if the punch is toooooo small it will slide inside the pin and spread it and bind. Causes extra effort to get the pin to slide out of the recess and you might end up with the pin really stuck in the hole along with the punch. Then we get to really test our vocabulary. *%$#@* .

Just checked Kuhnhausens "Book of the 45" and he says it takes a 1/16 punch and the pin should be removed from left to right.

The pin is a solid pin according to his book.
