What in the world are Bears fans thinking? Grossman has got to be one of the worst investments the Bears have ever made. I'd rather see Kyle Orton start than Rex Grossman; at least Orton is pretty consistent. You never know which Rex is going to show up for the game.

I, like you Tater , am a die-hard Bears fan. The problem with polls like that is that any dummy can answer them. I would like to see Orton start for "The Beloved" this year. Kyle may not be the flashiest QB on the block, but the main thing I have seen him do on a consistant basis is WIN. I hope they have an open competition without politics involved. May the best (and I do mean best) man win.

Who gives a rats rump what the fans think? Lets see what the coach does. Grossman is inconsistent.
One game he can look absolutely magnificent, come back a week later and look like he just graduated high school.
If I were his coach I'd kick him through the goal posts. I wonder how many tummy aches he's given the coach?
Bye the way, I'm for anybody who wins the Black and Blue Division. I love watching the games when they are paired against one another. I like those 3 point games when the Vikes, Bears and Packers play.

Didn't he take them to a Super Bowl??? He's gotta be great!:D  Honestly, they should have dropped him a long time ago, and went in a positive direction. JMHO

The defense took them to the Super Bowl, but I'm sure you guys already know that. He probably lost them the Super Bowl. The Bears would have been better off with Trent Dilfer that year. Look at what he did with the Ravens. He isn't a good quarterback, but he was smart enough not to turn the ball over. Great defenses can win with mediocre offenses as long as there aren't negative turnovers.
I didn't see the actual poll questions, but according to the article the question was "Who do you think will start on opening day" and not "Who would YOU like to see start on opening day." Maybe Bears fans just think the coach is a moron and he will start Grossman even though Grossman sucks.

His O-line managed to make some good plays that covered his behind and the D-line managed to make some great plays that turned the tide.
One game he can look absolutely magnificent, come back a week later and look like he just graduated high school.
One game, hell, he can look absolutely magnificent one PLAY but the next play he'll throw a pick or fumble and he's screwed for the rest of the game. IMHO Orton will be a fantastic QB if Coach Smith gives him some snaps in real games. Maybe not the next Joe Montana but definitely a very good QB.
I doubt Bears fans think Coach Smith is a moron. I saw the questions and thought they were a crock of doo-doo, too. The biggest problem with Grossman is he's inconsistent...period. I'd rather have a decent QB who can consistently make Ok plays than one who can sometimes make great plays and most of the time make crappy plays. Grossman makes a crappy throw and he worries about it the rest of the game. Look at Montana (since I mentioned him already)...how many interceptions did he throw? Not many, but when he did, he forgot about them and focused on the next play. Grossman gets inside his own head too much and spends more time worrying about the last play instead of focusing on the next play. He's worthless and he should be let go.

He isn't a good quarterback, but he was smart enough not to turn the ball over Actually, that's what he seemed to do best.
...Da Bears defense almost will always cover for a crappy QB. There's a reason Da Bear's 'D' is the defense all others are compared to, but even they can't do it alone.
I'm not a Bears fan, but, IMO, the Bears have wasted a terrific defense for the last several years by staying far too long with 2 QB's that are shaky (and that's being kind).
They've had a couple drafts now to bite the bullet and take a QB, and they haven't. By the time they do, that defense is gonna be retired.

Actually, they picked up 2 QBs in the draft but they're both rookies straight out of college. Orton could be a good QB if he got some time on the field. He's a hell of lot more consistent than Grossman.
