Just curious how many of you good folks look at listings and prices on gun auctions sites such as AuctionArms, GunsAmerica or Gunbroker? I am often surprised and amazed at the prices and can tell you guns are much cheaper in the gun shops I visit. A local gun shop closed down to the public and sells mostly online because he gets much higher prices for his firearms. All the best...

Gil, I haven't bought on AA for years....prices have gone astronomical in the last 3 years....just look for certain things. If
you notice...goinggoinggone......a lot of this stuff is getting NO bids.I still look at it .....just to kill time.
After Skeet gave me some garage sale tips, I do a LOT better than I did! Actually, I haven't bought on line in about 3 years.

Gil some of the sites are OK. AA is an ok one. Gunbroker is a rip for the most part. There is a lot of "selling" between dealers...by such i mean they are bidding each others items. They are catching unwary bidders . Call it what ya will but I call it shill bidding. Not illegal I guess but still not right....As far as yard and garage sales...asking works doesn't it Dan?? No guns at yard sales this week as I sold a few myself..but I did find an old Remington 30S in really nice shape at a skeet shoot today...300 bucks. Also think I may have found one of my wants...if we can come to terms. Fellow has a Rem 722 deluxe gun in 222 Rem Mag. Hoping we can get the price right. I have a Leo VXIII 4.5-14SF he wants. Guns really are cheaper in gun shops than on online auctions.

As always it is buyer beware online. That being said I have purchased several guns from gunbroker with no complaints. Last year I wanted to pick up a charter arms undercover 5 shot 38 in stainless with the spur hammer. All the local gun shops wanted $400-$560 to special order it. I picked it up new on gunbroker for $265, then paid one of the local gun shops $35 to do the FFL recieve and transfer. That $100 off the best price at the local shops. Nowdays that same shop does more FFL transfers than it does regular gun sales. They aren't complaining as they are actually doing more buisness on average. However since I was about the ninth person wanting a charter pistol the month I got mine they now carry them in shop and guess what they run? Around $285.

Anyway garage sales and gun shows are still great places to dig for that deal. However if you want something specific and your shop is charging out the wazzo to order it, try peeking at gunbroker anyway.

These sights to me are for stuff I might have to go to 13 gunshows to find one for sale. Like a Marlin 336 in 44 mag, A win 94 in 7-30 waters, or a model 37 in 410 guage.

Nice also to see what price things are going for.

When I was buying on AA, I had a Cali dealer that kept me advised on the ole Wins and Rems he had. Ron Frye...Freys Guns
never treated me wrong and I was 110% satisfied. Had a state senator buddy that was FFL do the receiving and transfers.

Some of the prices are way too high I agree however I have picked up a couple of guns that I would never have even seen at the local shops.

A couple of years ago I got a ZB Brno 22f full stock carbine for $830 with DST's etc. Its a nice gun. I have never even seen one here.

Just this winter I got a Mannlicher S. 30-06 rifle for a good price. Again I am happy.
