Does anyone have an approxomate value of a Winchester Model 100 in .243 thats in decent condition. I've seen one that comes with a scope mounted already at $450 would this be a steal or not?

450 is an ok price. They had a recall on that rifle and you would want to be sure it had that done. Nice rifles but not the most accurate out there for sure. For 450 you would want one in at least 90% condition or more. Personally I leave them alone. Is it a pre 64 gun?? If it is it will have cut checkering..if not it is pressed.... with curlicues and oak leaves or something

Not really able to give a good idea about the true value. A couple of things to keep in mind though.

1. Unless the scope and mounts are premium brands and in excellent condition, their presence on a used firearm add very little to its value.

2. The Winchester M-100 is in general a pretty decent rifle. The first centerfire I ever owned was a M-100 in .308. But remember that they have not been made for many years and that replacement parts and repairs will be difficult and expensive to obtain.

My experience with them is.

Those that work, work well. And those that done will never work.

Parts are hard to fine. A little heavy to lug all day. If it were me, I would look at the Remington 742, 4 and 750. Beleive these are a little better(many will disagree) but its JMO. In any event, its a semi auto so you have to keep it clean and lightly oiled.

Yeah i really wasn't looking for a new rifle right now i just was wondering if this was a big steal or not, with winchester being out of business I didn't know if that would hop the price up there.

I used to do the recall work on the Model 100. All they had was a recall on the firing pin. The new pin was made so the front half was captured if it broke and the gun didn't go auto until the magazine was empty. I am not a semi-auto fan, but the Winchester was okay.
