GOB,
Take care of your self and batten down that porch.

Just watched the ABC news interviewing some guy in Houston area ... decided to ride it out, "lots of water, gasoline and beer."

right now they are predicting that at 2pm tomorrow the eye of the hurricane will be 14 mile sw of my house and it will still be a category 1 hurricane. :( my grandmother is riding it out in her double wide, and my hard headed wife is joining her.

All we can do is pray. I am on 24 our standby now and will be sleeping in the server room at the department for the next two or three days.

Hang on and watch for flying debris!

One of the best Duck Hunts I had last season at my blind in NorCal was in hurricane weather!

We got hit by a big Pacific Storm when I was at the club last January. Glenn County alone lost somewhere in the neighborhood 100 power poles and connected transmission lines. They were down all around me, the roads in and out were flooded and it was just Jack and I in our new travel trailer in our club compound. I woke up at 5 a.m. to the wind trying to flip our trailer but we know which direction the bad winds come from (S-SE) so we were set up for it. Jack and I stayed in bed till 8, got up, ate breakfast, then went drove over to our blind about a mile away.

The winds were at 80 mph at that point! The birds were EVERYWHERE! The hardest thing was walking out to our blind through the pond. Took me about 15 minutes to go 100 yards! I couldn't hit my ass if I tried as the birds flew over 'cuz of the incredible winds. By 11 a.m. it slowed to about 25-30 mph and the hunting was epic!

So what I'm saying GOB is go hunting!! :D

Still kickin. I am at the department for the next 24-72 hours. My wife and grandmother refused to leave the houses and come with me so I am praying for them alot.

Other than that I am here, and awake. Probably will be awake for a long time.

Well they were wrong. The eye passed directly over my house. My sister (who went to stay with my grandmother) called from a church about a mile from the house. Everything is fine, everybody is great. A single tree fell in front of my grandmothers yard and knocked her light pole with the power meter on it to one side. Both houses have no electricity and no phones, but other than that everything is great.

Thanks for the prayers folks. There are still alot of people out there who have need for them too.

God Bless America

Nope I am still at the department. Looks like I will be here from 24-72 hours more. Every place around is out of gas and my county is closed. Down trees everywhere I couldn't get home with a 4x4 and a fleet of chainsaws right now.

We all know that GW steered that hurricane right over your house and the sooner there is a senate investigation the better. You know, because the seriousness of the charge warrants it.

Am glad you and family are ok. :)

That silly bugger of a hurricane even knocked my power out for 24 hrs and I live in PA! We had some pretty high winds last night, plenty of downed trees. Some people are still without power ... Can't imagine what it would have been like when she hit land in the Gulf.

Our HQ in Houston is shut down, but luckily the network is still running.

There are plenty of locations here in Ohio still without power as well. Too bad the wind didn't help the Browns or the Bengals on Sunday!

I'm glad to hear you're OK, GOB.
