Was sitting on my Grandmas back porch reading the paper having a cup of coffee and a breakfast roll.

Just heard about the plane crashing into the South Tower and thought os an Aircraft malfunction. 20 minutes later the second crash.

A few minutes later 4 F-15's from Wright Pat took off with White and Red missiles attached. This ain't no game.

All I could think was AW S#!T.

I always felt the U.S. was lax in the area of protecting resources. When I was stationed in Europe I noticed the attention Dams and Power Plants received.

We in America tended to be lackadaisical in protecting our soft areas after winning WW2. We found out about the Religion of peace in a hurry. I am also sure that the learned knew of this and told superiors and were told they were paranoid.

The "unfounded" paranoia caused the death of 3000 plus citizens. When gauging a situation I tend to err on the side of safety and security.

Just a little something I learned in the Military.

Best wishes, Bill

It was about 5:00 AM when my boss called me and told me to turn on the TV... someone had just run into the one tower.. and then while we were attempting to come into the world of the living this other plane flew into the other tower.... It was surreal... you almost couldn't believe it... My wife and I were stunned.... then her tears started... then as the day unfolded I got more and more angry and then... there were all these muslims around the world dancing in the streets.... I only wish they could have seen the light right then.... a very very bright light ... one like everyone says we saw from Johnson Island when I was a kid.. this unexplained flash on the horizon.... and turn that place into a sheet of glass...

I've since tempered some... had my kids over there twice and going back again.... now I'd just settle for the stone age ... and just think, it seems that half of america doesn't seem to feel it ever happened... Oh well... but when those towers started down... that was a reality check like you could never get from a story book.

And god bless those kids that keep going back... their sacrifice is more than just a hot day in the sun with a camel spider.. their families suffer outrageously...

Aloha...

I had just arrived at work when one of my coworkers say a plane had hit a building in NY. I walked into the break room looked up at the TV and said "Hey isn't that another plane comming?" And then it hit the building.

I was laying in an antelope blind on the high plains of eastern Colorado, a hunting buddy about 250yds down a line fence. Beautiful blue sky, no jet con trails ... strange feeling. We walked to our truck about 10:30a - 11a to grab a sandwich and turned on the radio about the time Pentagon and Flight 93 were occuring.

I had a class that morning. I walked in and the TV was on. I asked "what movie is this?" Turns out it was CNN and I'd walked in about 5 min before the 2nd plane hit. Shortly thereafter the first tower fell and the class was cancelled and I went to work. I spent the next 10 hours running around on the flightline getting planes ready to take off on CAP missions. My wife (now my ex) was in Chicago for a class. Her class was taking place in a building right across from the Sears tower and I'd heard on my little radio that there was a plane unaccounted for in the vicinity of Chicago. The hardest thing I've ever had to do was put her out of my mind and do my job. A few days later we sent a group with our B-1s to Diego Garcia. A week later another group to Kuwait with our F-15Es. A week later I and another group headed off to Qatar. That was my first wartime deployment and it was awesome watching planes take off loaded and land empty knowing that I had a part in punishing those responsible and covering the good guys on the ground.

I was home sick from school and leave my radio on at night so i heard them mention it and that it was a malfuncion. When i woke up later and turned on the tv i was pretty confused about what was going on but sat watching and praying for all those families

I was at work when a trucker brought in a load of logs and started talking about it. I thought he was crazy. I turned my radio on and listened, stunned, as they described what was going on and what was happening. I will not soon forget that day.

over Denver........Quest building...30+ stories had hung a humongous American flag on the side of it....kinda saying 'come on'.
Oh yeah, went into vault and loaded a .40 and placed it in desk...not sure what I was gonna protect!!!!!!Still there......
