Thoughts on the subject? I've never personally run into an accounter that lead me to believe there is big cats here in PA, but I hear so called "sightings" from some of my well tenders in NW Allegheny National Forest. Also one told me someone just hit a 120# cat on the road with a car in Onaville, NY along Kinzua.
Ever see anything go bump in the night?

a few years back up in Bald Mountain area of Bear Creek pa, my brother-in law had his german shepherd torn apart by a mountain lion , but the game commission has been hush , hush about it , a few sightings since then but with the windmills tearing up the landscape the animals have moved to denser areas and not many people go there so its hard to say they are still around orhow far do they travel for forage dothey range farther than bear, you get nowhere with the game commission it like talking to those4 monkeys , you know hear see, speak, whatever

We have 'em here and they seem to travel pretty far every day. 20 30 miles is what the Government hunter here told me. I've seen their tracks here on the ranch/farm..never saw one in real life here though. They come very close to the house..but I am pretty far from everything else. Got about 30,000 acres of BLM behind me.

Until someone proves they don't exist, then anything is possible.

Petey,
I have a good friend that swears he had seen a Mountian Lion in the Eagles Mere area last fall. This guy is no stranger to the woods and said it was a big cat with a very long tail. I mean think about it, We didn't have coyotes here in PA in the 80's and now they are all over the place. Thank You PGC !

I wish I had an encounter to "prove" it. Or rather, wish I don't.
It almost like the "big foot" sightings here in PA. Some people swear he exists, and even have so called pictures to prove it. So far, I haven't seen a picture of either that would lead me to believe there are big cats or big foot in PA. That being said, I wouldn't call anyone a liar and anything is possible.
Agreed on the coyotes...15 yrs ago, you would laugh if you said there were coyotes in PA. Just hope the cat frenzy doesn't turn out to be the same situation as the coyotes in 10 more years.

We saw a mountain lion in our back yard here in Western CT last summer.
Years ago I saw one in Southern Vermont.

petey,
Rest assured, they are here in PA. My wife saw one in Dantz Run cross the road recently. Another was seen in Tioga, PA last November by a fellow church member.
The PGC says one cannot shoot a mountain lion as they are protected. The US Fish&Wildlife Service says the EASTERN Mountain Lion became extinct 150 years ago, so any in PA now are WESTERN mountain lions and not protected. The PGC says any lions seen now are "escaped pets" or "released animals", but may not be shot. On my farm, any mountain lion I see will be shot and taken to the center of town in Mansfield and hung from a light pole by the traffic light so ALL can see PROOF they EXIST. A veterinarian friend will take samples to check DNA. If it is a WESTERN cat, then the PGC has no case and the animal was IMPORTED and released in PA. "Here kitty, kitty...."

I have seen some pretty big cat tracks in both Maine and Massachuetts. Then again the F&G claims there aren't any. Never seen one personally but have seen where they have gone.
There has been some actual footage on the New from time to time. Claimed they were pets. Sure.
