i tested the air rifle i described on the "build" thread here.
the main thing i found was the amount of gas required to generate the gained power has resulted in far fewer shots per refill.
i could have made even more radical opening of gas ports but it would reduce the number of shots even more. i may yet undertake these modifications after researching whether or not i could get another valve body if the modifications are not practical in terms of the amount of gas expended per shot. right now, it's marginal; i'm able to get only 10-15 shots per refill.
it's akin to having to use more propellant for more projectile speed in a reloaded cartridge.
