turkey loads from a rifled slug barrel

Was thinking of getting a rifled slug barrel for my encore for a future deer hunt in IL. Was also wondering if that barrel could be effectively used during the spring turkey season? Will it pattern worth a hoot. Anyone here ever try it to see what the shot pattern looks like?

The rifling will cause a mess with a turkey load. It will have the wad and a significant amount of the shot load spinning as it comes out the barrel. That will cause the shot to spin off and out of the pattern.

Being a slug barrel it is probably a pretty open bored barrel. Even is the rifling didn't screw up the pattern, the pattern would not be as tight as is needed to guarantee a tight pattern on a turkeys head/neck area that is needed for consistent kills.

As the others said: NO!!! If you want a barrel for turkey just buy a smoothbore barrel too - preferably one that is threaded for screw-in choke tubes.
