A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check Made payable to "The United States of America " for an amount of
"up to and including my life." That is Honor, and there are way too many people in
This country who no longer understand it

I also thank you.
As a 27 year active service veteran it's nice to hear your words of thank you and gratitude.
I figured I had a debt to pay to this country for sheltering my family in a time of need and I appreciated the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.
As the song goes, "All gave some, some gave all".
As for my service to my country, consider, "Paid in Full".
Best wishes, Bill

It's about the best definition I'd ever read, but I read it years ago and thought most others had as well. Hence, no comment needed.

Hi maineguy110, don't sweat the lack of participation.
I'm sure we all agree with you whether you get responses or not.
I always give deference and respect to our Veterans. :)
To both those who came home and those who haven't.

I too had seen it several times before and concluded no value would be added by any comment on my part. It was part of the Veterans Day message I sent to all the vets in my email address book last year.
For what it's worth, I heartily concur with the thanks all have expressed here.

great posting.
even though my service days ended long ago, it is still with me and in me in my everyday life, dreams and memories...both good and bad.
my time spent in the army were, probably, the most influencial times of my life.

Maineguy110,
You put it in such a way that I can not express, in my Heart, as to how greatfull I am and have been to have served in the Military Forces of this Great Nation.
A lot of people today do not understand, that when you say that you will Defend the United States and Constitution of The United States of America against all enemy's foreign and domestic, that it means just that and we will give up our very lives for that purpose.
Thank you
