Anybody have experience with the new 700 VTR? Got to peek at one this weekend, and I gotta tell you I like the looks of it. Am thinking about it in .223 for cheap plinking (223 cheap not the rifle), and coyote/varmints around here. Dunno why but that triangular barrel just seems to call to me.

the vtr i think is one heck of a rifle and the 223 is at its best in the vtr. the rifle twist rate is i think 1/9 wich will stabalize any factory ammo you could ever imagine shooting through it.
that and ist short and compact like a true varmit rig wants to be.
the barrel just looks cool to me to.
should be one heck of a rifle if you were to get one

Oh, I am getting one assuming I can save up the pennies before that carwreck that might happen tomorrow can ban them. Wife has given me the goahead on it.

Well finally got it ordered from a not-too-local wal-mart. Paid a good price too, almost $200 less than MSRP after my wifes wally world discount. Now lets hope I get to see it before Christmas.
