Now, I've had 'Thank yous' thrown at me for my military service but today was the first from a retired G.I. (as far as I know). I was at the BX for lunch and was walking around wasting a little time after eating. This older couple was looking at some camping gear when I walked by. The guy grabs my shoulder, takes my hand and thanks me for my service. I said, hell no, thank you. He was wearing a CL-49 hat. Just so you don't have to Google CL-49, she was the USS St. Louis; the very ship my Grandfather was on when he served during WWII. We chatted for a few and I had to get back to work. Talk about a small world.
